The socialist Pedro Viera Espinosa has been appointed as the new island director of the General State Administration in Lanzarote.
With a degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of La Laguna in 1988, he belongs to the Corps of Secondary Education Teachers in the specialty of Physics and Chemistry.
The former parliamentarian of the Government of the Canary Islands during the last legislature, held the responsibility of Coordinator in the Island Directorate of Education of Lanzarote from September 2011 to August 2012.
The general secretary of the PSOE, María Dolores Corujo, has expressed “her most sincere congratulations” and has stated that for the PSOE of Lanzarote “it is an honor to have a professional with Viera's commitment and integrity in the development of this responsibility.”
