The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will receive the head of the Canary Islands Executive, Fernando Clavijo, next Monday in Lanzarote, who will raise, among other issues, the discrepancies that have arisen in the referrals of migrant minors.

Sources from the Canary Islands Government have confirmed to EFE that the meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m., presumably at the headquarters of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

Sánchez arrived on the island with his family on August 2nd and, as in other years, is staying at the La Mareta residence.

In previous years, these meetings have taken place either on the island itself or in La Palma, an island that Sánchez visited several times after the volcanic eruption suffered in 2021.

The Canary Islands Government had requested this meeting to discuss various issues affecting the islands, including the referrals to the Peninsula of migrant minors seeking asylum, which, according to the Canary Islands Executive, have been slowed down due to administrative problems of the central administration.
