After several mornings stationed in front of the doors of the Arrecife Courts, Pedro Quintana, affected by the auction of the Siglo XXI building, has decided to begin his hunger strike. "I started this Monday, although I am drinking water and sugar, because you have to be careful," said this man, one day before the auction takes place, which will take place on Tuesday.
Pedro Quintana's protest has not managed to stop the auction of the property. "Neither the protest, nor the letter we sent to the notary explaining that he is violating the Mortgage Regulations, nor the one we sent to the judge explaining that an illegality is being committed," he said.
"They have not responded to any of these letters," he lamented, while recalling that last week he filed a complaint against the notary in the Courts for an alleged crime of prevarication, since "since a criminal complaint for falsehood has been admitted, the notary is obliged to stop the auction."
Precisely for this reason, he has decided to start a hunger strike, which he still does not know when he will abandon. Pedro Quintana has also advanced that this Tuesday morning he will take his protest to the doors of the notary's office where the auction is going to be held. "I trust that other buyers will go. That's what they promised me," he said.
Until now, Pedro Quintana has not only demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Arrecife Palace of Justice, but also in front of the Banesto bank, on Calle Real, whom he blames for "wanting to appropriate the building illegally", through the aforementioned auction.
More than 160 families are affected by this situation. "Banesto wants to keep the building. A building that this bank valued at 54 million euros and that now wants to award it for 33 million euros. And we, who have contributed 11 million euros in total, want to be thrown out into the street like dirty water," he denounced last week.
