The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, and the councilors of Sports, Public Works and Environment, traveled this Wednesday to La Graciosa on a working visit to which municipal technicians joined.
According to Duque, "the fact that there is no Councilorship delegated from the eighth island does not mean that we are not fully committed to addressing its singularities", in fact the first mayor asks "if there can be better citizen attention than moving frequently here and maintaining an active listening within our idea of open government".
In this way, the Teguise City Council assures that "Duque fulfills the commitment expressed in the first plenary session of the Corporation that she presided over as mayoress" and in which she already announced her intention to travel periodically to La Graciosa to "evaluate the government actions that are specifically aimed at the Graciosa population, as well as to collect citizen demands in situ."
The problems with rubble
On this occasion, the Teguise mayoress pledged to send notifications to offenders who deposit rubble on private plots. "We have several uncivil situations that need to be addressed, because we are receiving many citizen complaints," Duque explained. Precisely, these days a shock plan is being carried out that involves cleaning work, conditioning of roads, and painting of street furniture.
The second phase of the socio-cultural center, which will involve the construction of a ball court and new meeting areas, and the improvement of the sports area, which is pending an Environment report from the Cabildo, so that an investment of 80,000 euros from FEDER funds can be initiated, were other issues that were addressed in the visit of the Teguise municipal representatives.
Promotion of the 2030 Agenda
Duque was also present at the training course taught by the ULL professor Vicente Zapata and which seeks to promote the application of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through agents of change that arise from social or citizen groups, giving prominence to the associative fabric of the eighth island.
"Administrations must strive to create the framework that allows us to comply with the SDGs and adapt them to our local agenda. I hope that a driving group can be created with this work philosophy in La Graciosa," explained the Councilor for the Environment, Myriam Jorge Camejo.
