Nueva Canarias held an assembly in Arrecife on Friday afternoon, in which it renewed its local committee. In it, in the absence of the presentation of alternative candidacies, the one headed by the Councilor for Commerce, Hospitality and Tourism of the Arrecife City Council, Armando Santana, rose with full unanimity.
Santana, who is renewing his organic positions, took stock of the management of recent years, highlighting the importance of NC in the governability of the island, where “they are fundamental for the stability of the municipality of Arrecife and the Island Council of Lanzarote.” He also pointed out that the “essence of this project lies in its human capital.” "A group of women and men who walk the neighborhoods of Arrecife. An empathetic project with its people,” he pointed out. In the same way, he highlighted the importance of the “Canarian idea with a self-centered view, from the local level as the best way to channel demands.”
The municipal secretary finished his plea “looking to the near future.” "This neither begins nor ends in Arrecife. NC is a project with an island and national Canarian vocation, and we are demonstrating this with the incorporation of new faces. We have a project that breathes fresh air for a new cycle," he indicated.

In this presentation, the voices of other organic positions such as that of Remedios Alarcón Ceballos could also be heard, who demanded more female presence in political positions of responsibility. “We are prepared to change our society. Women have to enter politics because we represent 50% of the population, and without us the world stops,” she argued. In such a way, she highlighted that “in NC the doors are open for all those women who want to contribute to improving our society from equality and the fight for acquired rights.”
For his part, Miguel Ángel Gil, new municipal deputy secretary, recounted his personal experience in volunteering and how he could contribute from NC. “The situation we see every day in Lanzarote is dramatic. We serve about 600 families a week and we hardly receive any food. Politics, now more than ever, should focus solely on feeding its people. The island is exhausted,” he stressed.

Gil, who has been involved since practically the constitution of the NC project in Lanzarote, is in charge of managing the Esperanza y Vida NGO, an organization that NC supports selflessly with the payment of the premises and the water and electricity supplies. For Miguel, “that a political party supports an NGO that feeds more than 600 families in this way is a task that goes beyond politics. It is, fundamentally, humanity and responsibility towards its people.”
With everything, the municipal executive committee of NC-Arrecife was constituted as follows: Armando Santana as municipal secretary, Miguel Ángel Gil as municipal deputy secretary, Remedios Alarcón Ceballos as secretary of Organization, Olegario Vizcaíno as secretary of Implementation and Servando Dorta as secretary of Political Action.
