The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC) in Tías together with the residents of Puerto del Carmen express their "discomfort" at the works that are being carried out in Playa Chica, a natural and protected space due to the variety and peculiarity of its seabed, visited by scientists and tourists, and which they say “is being modified and transformed as a result of works that do not have any type of protection measures”.
For the Canaristas “the consequences of these actions may lead to a significant reduction of the beach, in addition to the fact that it is being done with opacity on the part of the representatives of the institution by not giving explanations of the administrative acts to carry out this work”. They continue alluding to the fact that the council must make public “the permits and authorizations for these works by the Coasts and the Government of the Canary Islands and the measures to protect and not destroy this beautiful natural space”.
The Canarian organization fears that the "lack of transparency and management" will affect the "protection of natural heritage in favor of particular interests", so they ask the competent authorities to "intervene urgently and review the legality" and the entire procedure before the "effects on the territory and the natural landscape are irreversible".
“We must conserve our coasts and coastlines, and be exquisite with the procedures for protecting the territory and adapting to climate change”, they stated from NC.
