Nueva Canarias-Bloque Canarista (NC-bc) in Teguise wants to express "its concern" about what they consider a drift of "chaos" and "lack of control" to which the government group of Coalición Canaria (CC), Partido Popular (PP) and the former Vox councilor, led by the mayor Olivia Duque, are leading the municipality.
This is how the Canarian councilor Fernando Jiménez considers it, given the latest events derived from the repeated breaches of the company awarded the cleaning service of public facilities, which has led to request the government group itself for the collaboration of neighbors and public employees in the cleaning of the facilities.
For the Canarian councilor, "this situation has been reached due to the immobility of the mayor Olivia Duque, who has been aware for months of the bad practices of the company towards its workers and, instead of working to put order and find solutions, she excuses herself that it has not been submitted in writing." Now, Jiménez continues, "she is seen with a situation that has gotten out of hand, with a dirty municipality and asking workers from both the municipal entity and other institutions such as schools to clean the facilities themselves."
"If the mayor had acted diligently from the beginning and thinking about guaranteeing the labor rights of the contracted personnel, this would not have reached the chaotic situation in which we find ourselves. Moreover, at first, she was even against the claims of the workers who asked to be paid their salaries on time and with more material resources to do their job well," says Fernando Jiménez.
Similarly, Fernando Jiménez "does not understand the attitude that the mayor has taken of obstructing the work of supervision and assistance that the opposition maintains as NC-bc, where a motion aimed at ensuring that there are no companies contracted by the City Council that violate labor law has been blocked, in addition to requesting all the necessary information to find, together, a solution to the problem."
"We do not understand the undemocratic behaviors of the government group and why they refuse to debate about the company," says Fernando Jiménez, who affirms that "he will continue to insist that it be clarified what has been the procedure carried out by the City Council and what plans they have to reach a solution."
