"The commitment is clear: before the end of the legislature, Lanzarote will have more social and health places". That is the promise that the Minister of Social Rights of the Government of the Canary Islands, Noemí Santana, has made this Tuesday, after holding a telematic meeting with the President of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo.

From the regional Executive they point out that in the meeting, both institutions have "laid the foundations for a common work plan for the creation of more social and health places with which to meet the demands of the citizens of Lanzarote".

In the meeting, in which the general director of Dependency and Disability, Marta Arocha, also participated, they addressed "the need to draw up a common roadmap in the creation of more places for the care of people in situations of dependency and disability on the island".

For her part, the president of the Lanzarote Cabildo raised the possibility of including the Comprehensive Care Project for People in Vulnerable Situations in Lanzarote within the Dependency Agreement, in order to be co-financed by the Government of the Canary Islands. “We urgently need a change in the care model, strengthening the dependency care system. Our objective is to promote a change in the residential care model, to make residential centers friendly, close and close to the community where the elderly have lived and want to continue living”, she assured.

Both the regional Minister of Social Rights and the general director of Dependency have "positively" valued the proposals made by the Cabildo of Lanzarote and have committed to studying the most effective options to integrate the Comprehensive Care Project for People in Vulnerable Situations in Lanzarote, within the Dependency Agreement.
