Nueva Canarias has wanted to join the demands of the parents of the CEIP Costa Teguise, which they say is "the educational center with the highest number of barracks in all of the Canary Islands", currently having 13. To learn firsthand about the problems they suffer at the center, on September 21, the Insular Secretariat of Welfare of Nueva Canarias Lanzarote, led by Yoné Caraballo, held a meeting with the AMPA Pejeverde of the CEIP Costa Teguise.

"Initially, the barracks were a purely temporary solution, but the reality is that they have been installed in the educational center for 14 years," explains Caraballo, who emphasizes that "he also has his son in said center."

NC points out that the party members "were able to witness the discomfort of the parents towards public institutions, specifically, with the Teguise City Council and the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands." "The parents are very upset because they believe that there is no agreement between both institutions, making it impossible to solve their demands," says Caraballo. In addition, the formation maintains that the AMPA "demands that the government group of Teguise, headed by Mayor Oswaldo Betancort, solve "once and for all" the modification of the use of the land where the new center would be located."

On the other hand, from the AMPA of the school, they say from NC, they comment that "the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, under the responsibility of the socialist councilor from Lanzarote, Manuela Armas, desists from receiving the parents." From NC they express their "discomfort and incomprehension at the lack of sensitivity towards the users, both parents, as well as the children who go to school every day in less than recommended conditions."

On September 30, the Insular Secretariat of Welfare of Nueva Canarias held a meeting with the parliamentarian and coordinator of the NC Parliamentary Group in the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Luis Campos, where they conveyed this problem and "agreed to manage new actions in this regard, such as leading the communication and rapprochement between the AMPA and the Ministry of Education." The members of NC emphasize that "pillars as basic and fundamental as education in our Canarian society must be a primary objective for the public administration in terms of investment."

Finally, at the meeting, according to Nueva Canarias, "the lack of family and leisure offer in the town of Costa Teguise" was also highlighted. "Costa Teguise is an important nucleus in the municipality of Teguise. We do not understand the distance and lack of interest of the CC government group with its urban centers, and even more so with Costa Teguise being the engine of the municipality," says Caraballo.
