On July 24th, in the halls of the Sociedad Democracia, the show "Mucho más que zarzuela" took place, performed by the Coral Polifónica San Ginés under the direction of José Antonio Elías, accompanied on the piano by maestro Javier Díaz and with soloists, tenor Ricardo Pistone, soprano Sheyla Rizo and baritone Raúl Rodríguez.
This project, presented by Roberto Fuentes, was shown with a total of 17 zarzuela themes and the projection of 198 photographs that immersed the public in the message that was intended to be given.
In addition, a theatrical couple that brought laughter from the audience, composed of Manoli Fernández and Alby Robayna.
The Board of Directors of the Sociedad Democracia, chaired by D. Ginés Hernández, saw its forecasts overflowed with the more than 380 people who crowded the main hall and the upper part, who for two hours remained attentive to the staging and dedicated to each interpretation.
Previously, the Coral Polifónica San Ginés had to postpone its performances scheduled for June 6th at the Insular Theater and June 18th at the Sociedad Democracia, as the Insular Theater was involved in the "Unión" plot, having to perform the presentation at the Atlántida Theater on June 18th, filling the capacity, and the Sociedad Democracia on July 24th.
This género chico, as Zarzuela is called, consists of songs created mostly by Spanish composers, who wanted to reflect the life and feeling of a people.
With this project, the Coral Polifónica San Ginés, intends to give a more respectable meaning to this genre that has enviable musical themes and close to the people who listen to it.
"Mucho más que zarzuela" aims to reach other corners of the island to publicize this show that has been supported and applauded by the public of Arrecife.
