More than 460 sixth-grade students from eight schools in Arrecife have actively participated in the talks "Brave People Wanted in Your Municipality," a pioneering initiative promoted by the Departments of Citizen Participation and Education, led by Cathaysa Suárez and Abigail González, respectively.
The activity, held on October 10 and 11 at the Youth Center, aimed to raise awareness among schoolchildren about bullying, its consequences, and how to confront it.
The event featured the participation of Juan Manuel Montilla, known as "El Langui," who shared a message of overcoming, courage, and solidarity against bullying with the young people.
Through his words, the students were able to reflect on the importance of being brave not only to face personal problems but also to support classmates who suffer any type of abuse.
Cathaysa Suárez, Councilor for Citizen Participation, highly valued the initiative, highlighting the importance of involving young people in the fight against bullying.
"These talks have allowed us to show our young people that being brave means acting, supporting, and not standing idly by in bullying situations," said the councilor, emphasizing that "it is essential that we work together to create safe environments in our classrooms and for our students to know that they can always count on their classmates, teachers, and the rest of the educational community."
In addition, Suárez highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Departments of Citizen Participation and Education to carry out initiatives like this.
"The synergy between different areas of the City Council reinforces our commitment to working for the well-being of everyone, from the youngest to the oldest. Activities like this not only raise awareness but also contribute to raising awareness from the earliest ages," the councilor emphasizes.
