Mario Cabrera appeals to the strength of CC in Fuerteventura and Lanzarote to propose to the party a candidate from Lanzarote for the Presidency

Mario Cabrera, president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura and one of the prominent leaders of CC in Fuerteventura, stated this morning that "if there is enough courage in Lanzarote, we are in a position to present a firm proposal to lead the CC candidacy for the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands. And we would also do it with a person from Lanzarote, because it is time to change perspectives and sensitivities within the Archipelago."

Mario Cabrera, who has also been coordinator of CC and Assembly in Fuerteventura and is expected to repeat as the head of the list of his political formation to the Island Council, added that "all the polls indicate that CC can obtain 7 deputies between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, I believe that with this support it is the moment to be able to propose a candidate for the Presidency of the Government".

Cabrera argued that "in Fuerteventura we have clear proposals on who this person could be - in clear reference to former senator Miguel Cabrera, a retired architect from Majorera politics for several legislatures but with strong social support on the island - but if Lanzarote makes us a firm proposal on another person, we are willing to support them with all our strength to make them the next president of the Government of the Canary Islands".

Cabrera González stated that the specific weight of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura within the Archipelago demands new social, economic, and political approaches, "and CC cannot remain oblivious to this new reality. But, of course, for that we need people in Lanzarote with enough courage and desire within CC to promote this new alternative".

In his speech, Mario Cabrera recalled that until now we have always lived in an alternation of candidates between the two capital islands "and that has happened in all parties, not only in CC, and that's enough. If we miss the opportunity that the non-capital islands now have to have for the first time a candidate with possibilities in one of the major parties in the Canary Islands, it will probably take a long time for us to have another opportunity like this".

Mario Cabrera automatically ruled himself out of this possible candidacy "Fuerteventura has already thought about who its candidate could be. We are clear about it. However, personally I believe that we would be in a position to cede this position to a person from CC of Lanzarote, if among the fellow citizens of Lanzarote there is a real interest and desire to seek new political scenarios in the Canary Islands".
