The Las Kellys collective staged a new protest this Monday in front of a hotel to denounce the working conditions of the maids. On this occasion, the establishment was the Barceló Teguise Beach, to whose doors around a dozen members of Las Kellys came carrying banners demanding "decent work" and shouting "enough is enough".
This group of workers explained that after filing a complaint against the external company Alterna BPO, for following the Seville hotel industry agreement instead of the Las Palmas agreement, the maids who have decided to continue their demands for "decent work and a fair wage" are now "victims of psychological abuse and mistreatment by the hotel's housekeeper".
"These maids, with the same number of hours as the girls who have withdrawn the complaint, have a much higher workload than their colleagues", denounce Las Kellys, who warn that they are not going to "allow any more abuse". With this objective, the collective is organizing a talk that will take place on October 14, at 6:00 p.m., in the Casa de la Juventud de Arrecife. There, the lawyer of Las Kellys will explain "all the changes" that the employers want to contribute to the current provincial agreement, and that the unions are currently negotiating with the employers.
