The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Energy Area, continues working this term to implement an island network of fast charging for electric vehicles. Currently, the Institution presided over by Oswaldo Betancort has several public tender processes underway to install new charging points in different locations on the island, within the framework of a strategy that aims to promote more sustainable mobility and a cleaner energy model.
The four projects currently in tender are located in Costa Teguise (Teguise), Tinajo, Playa Honda (San Bartolomé) and Tías, and are co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN).
President Oswaldo Betancort has stated that, with these projects, "we are building the infrastructure that Lanzarote needs to move towards a more efficient and sustainable energy model. This island network of fast charging points is key to promoting the use of electric vehicles and reducing our carbon footprint."
For his part, the island councilor for Energy, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, highlighted the technical work and institutional cooperation as fundamental axes of the process: "This is a coordinated work that involves planning, investment and collaboration between administrations. Our goal is to facilitate the energy transition as much as possible and ensure that any citizen of the island has access to modern and efficient charging points."
A true island network
In the case of Costa Teguise, the process of submitting offers has recently concluded and the Cabildo is currently requesting additional information from some of the five bidding companies. This project has a base budget of 73,414.16 euros (taxes included).
On May 8, the deadline was opened to submit offers for the execution of the fast charging point in Tinajo, a process that closes to business offers on May 28. This tender has been called for an initial amount of 60,946.71 euros. Likewise, yesterday Monday, May 12, the tender for the new charging point in Playa Honda (San Bartolomé) was published on the Public Sector Procurement Platform. Interested companies may submit their proposals until June 2, on a base budget of 63,411.58 euros, which reinforces the island's commitment with an increasingly wide and accessible network for electric vehicle users.
Also, this Monday the tender was opened for a fourth project to install a new charging point for the town of Tías, for €65,315.59 (the deadline for submitting offers concludes at 10:00 am on 02/06/2025).
On the other hand, the City Council of Arrecife has confirmed that it will soon formalize the necessary inter-administrative collaboration for the installation of a charging point (€78,434.65) in the Puerto Naos area, an action promoted by the Cabildo that was awaiting said municipal support.
The island Institution remains waiting to receive other necessary municipal authorizations to execute the fast charging points projected in Órzola (€96,612.28) and Yaiza (€67,037.15), both with accounting retention in force by the Corporation.
A few weeks ago, the Cabildo of Lanzarote undertook the renovation -40,963.11 euros were invested- of the charging point located in Playa Blanca (Yaiza) which, together with those existing in the Monumento al Campesino and Arrieta, form the three points currently in operation promoted by the Institution.
