The PSOE of Lanzarote has celebrated the implementation of the "higher cycle of sports technician" in Sailing in Lanzarote, a training that "is a pioneer in the Canary Islands" and that was incorporated as a new cycle offered in Lanzarote while Manuela Armas was Minister of Education, Universities, Culture and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands presided over by Ángel Víctor Torres.
The councilor of the Socialist Group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and insular director of education on the island, Celeste Callero, during the past term, has shown "her pride" in the implementation for the first time in the Canary Islands of this education from this year in the 'IES Blas Cabrera Felipe'.
“The Canary Islands is a leader in this training at the national level. Our government was strongly committed to promoting the development of sports education in the Canary Islands and Vocational Training, with a view to promoting the adaptation of professional education to the economic development model of the Canary Islands. In the past term, not only was the offer expanded, but the number of groups and places was expanded,” says Callero. “It was a priority objective of the socialist government to diversify the training offer to facilitate access to these teachings, meet the demand of students and connect the offer with the needs of each island,” she adds.
Academic and professional training in sailing is made up of a medium cycle (with an initial level of 500 hours and a final level of 600 hours) and a higher cycle (implemented for this year 2023-2024) with 750 hours of training. Among the professional opportunities of the medium cycle, the job options of initiation and technification coach in sailing with fixed and free rigging, coordinator of other initiation to sailing technicians, manager and organizer of sailing promotion and initiation events, accompaniment and direction to the sailor in competitions and responsible for the safety of navigation and sports facilities used in technification stand out.
On the other hand, the professional opportunities that future graduates of the higher cycle will obtain will be diversified in developing their professional activity both in the public sphere, whether it is the General State Administration, the autonomous or local administrations, as well as in private entities, whether they are large, medium or small companies, in sports boards, municipal sports entities, federations, technification centers, high-performance centers and sports and social clubs, educational centers, service companies, which offer sports-recreational activities, and in high-performance sailing (technification coach in sailing with fixed rigging, coordinator of other sailing technicians, manager and organizer of sailing promotion, initiation and improvement and high-performance events, accompaniment and direction to the sailor in competitions, responsible for the safety of navigation and sports facilities used in technification and high performance, high-level sailing coach, technical director, director of sailing and sports schools.)
From the socialist formation they remember that the previous Government of the Canary Islands expanded the offer of professional training on the island, incorporating as novelties in the offer of professional training in Lanzarote, the Higher Cycle Industrial Pattern Making and Fashion (in the IES Tías), the Higher Cycle Tourist Animation (IES Teguise), the Higher Cycles of Football and Handball Technician (IES Blas Cabrera Felipe), the Higher Cycle Animation (Graphic and Audiovisual Communication family, taught at the Pancho Lasso School) and the Higher Cycle Image for Diagnosis and Nuclear Medicine (at the CIFP Zonzamas).
