The island director of Education, Juan Ramón Pérez, will resign from his position after obtaining a position in another public administration, as he himself has confirmed to La Voz. Pérez will leave his post on March 21st.

On the 22nd, the still island director of Education will join his new position. "For sure, when I leave, another director will have already been appointed. I know there are names being considered, but I don't know who it will be," he said.

Pérez was appointed by the Government of the Canary Islands to hold this position in August 2011. That appointment took several weeks to occur and finally arrived a week before the start of the 2011-2012 school year.

Juan Ramón Pérez was until then the director of the Teguise Institute and had also served as a socialist councilor in the City Council of La Villa. In the 2003 elections, he headed the PSOE list for this Consistory.

Pérez replaced the nationalist Juan Cruz in the position, who held this position for the last seven years.
