The Cabildo of Lanzarote celebrated the "Canary Islands Day" at the Island Theater. The event began at 9:00 p.m. with the notes of the Canary Islands anthem, which was masterfully sung live by four members of the musical group Jóvenes Cantadores. As soon as the first notes sounded, all attendees followed it with great attention in silence and stood up to offer a great ovation once it was finished.
Next, the President of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, took the stage to read the institutional speech corresponding to the eve of Canary Islands Day. In said speech, the president gave a brief review of these twenty-nine years of autonomy, focusing part of it on the times we are living in and "where we need more than ever to be united and work side by side without losing the illusion so that together we can begin to get back on track and make the Canary Islands a land where little by little we achieve better achievements for all Canarians and those who share our customs and traditions with us," the president concluded his speech with a "Long live the Canary Islands!".
Later, the musical concert began by "Jóvenes Cantadores", a musical group from Tenerife made up of about twenty young people, including three girls. Formed in 2008, they have an important series of concerts throughout the Canary Islands and in such a short time they have two recorded albums; the first one titled "Tribute to La Parranda" and the second "One Hundred Percent", and they are about to present their third album "Mestizaje".
The Jóvenes Cantadores offered a very varied concert in which they included traditional songs mixed with Latin American themes to which the public in some of them chanted and also animatedly clapped.
