Intersindical Canaria denounces that the Insular Hospital of Lanzarote has been without a gynecologist since last December, having "left the position vacant" and not having "covered it with another doctor". From the trade union organization they warn of the worrying nature of this situation, given the importance of this service "for the prevention of cancer in women" and hold the Minister of Health of the Cabildo, José Juan Cruz, responsible, accusing him of "doing nothing" about it.
This problem adds to, according to Intersindical Canaria, those that keep the workers of the Insular Hospital "on strike". The union recalls that employees have been carrying out 20 and 40 minute stoppages in all shifts without "giving them a solution" to their claims.
From Intersindical Canaria they announce that the workers will meet in assembly this week to determine the date on which they will begin the total stoppage announced in all shifts. In that same assembly they affirm that they will name "persona non grata to the Minister of Health, since he seems to them a puppet in the hands of the Minister of Finance, Luis Arreaez, of Coalición Canaria". They assure that "they are not willing to continue destroying the Insular Hospital".
"Inefficiency and ineffectiveness" of Cruz
In a statement, Intersindical Canaria states that "José Juan Cruz, Minister of Health, has broken all records of inefficiency and ineffectiveness, since in the year he has been in office he has managed to continue privatizing services. He has achieved what had never happened in the history of the Insular Hospital, in the 50 years it has been open, that the workers have been on strike for a month and that they will continue with a total strike".
They add, moreover, that Cruz "has managed to make the gynecology service disappear after more than 20 years providing these services to the women of Lanzarote. He has shown that being from the Socialist Party he continues the same game as Coalición Canaria"
