Intersindical Canaria has joined the request made by Podemos and has urged the Arrecife City Council to directly assume the home assistance service and for it to be "a public service". Likewise, the union has asked the company awarded the home help service to "publicly retract" the words spoken against the workers, whom it accused of carrying out "a boycott" with "unjustified" sick leave.

"Their professionalism is being questioned when most of them have been working in this service for more than four years without the slightest problem", points out Intersindical Canaria, which denies the accusations launched by Asidma. "If the workers are in a situation of Temporary Disability (IT), it is because a doctor will have considered that at that time they are not fit to work due to the ailment they suffer",

The union believes that "if it is true that half of the staff is on leave", the awarding company "should ask itself what is happening". "Maybe it is due to the workload, since in many cases, services that were performed by two workers are currently done by a single person, with the overload that this entails. We are talking about bedridden users who have to be moved by themselves", he points out.

In addition, Intersindical Canaria believes that Asidma should ask itself "why they cannot find people who want to work with them". "Let's not forget that newly hired workers or those with replacement contracts who came from the previous company work in more precarious conditions than the subrogated workers, with lower salaries", he denounces.

Accuses the City Council of leaving the workers "unprotected"

Thus, the union affirms that "there is no boycott" and that "the workers have been performing their functions even having contractures derived from their work". "They have even been given in the middle of the task and have had to go to the mutual. And all this for what? So that the company publicly tells them that they are boycotting them? They even dare to question a diagnosis made by a family doctor when they claim that most are unjustified absences", he criticizes.

Faced with years of problems with the companies that provide the home service, Intersindical Canaria urges the City Council to take charge of providing the service, "that it be a public service". "Both the mayor and the councilor for Social Services are aware of the labor problems that the workers have and have done nothing. They are once again leaving the workers unprotected, as Intersindical Canaria has publicly denounced on other occasions", concludes the union.
