The Haría City Council maintains this Wednesday the bathing ban from Jameos del Agua to Órzola due to the massive appearance of jellyfish last weekend in this municipality. The mayor, José Torres Stinga, has pointed out that the red flag is flying in this area and has also indicated that they have "located a jellyfish colony" near La Garita beach, in Arrieta. Therefore, it is expected that this beach will also be closed to swimming in the next few hours.

For its part, the Teguise City Council has changed the red flag to yellow. Thus, according to councilor Rita Martín, "caution is requested from users, but the beaches are already cleaner."

The councilor pointed out that "buckets of paint full of jellyfish" have been removed these days. Although she does not know how many jellyfish have been collected, the truth is that she has pointed out that many jellyfish appeared on the shore of the beaches.

It should be remembered that the Teguise City Council already advised against swimming due to the presence of jellyfish last Friday afternoon and maintained the recommendation until Saturday. Subsequently, on Monday it had to prohibit swimming on its beaches again, where you can now swim, although with caution.

Even the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium recommended caution when swimming and asked the population to pay attention to the signaling of the flags on the beach.
