Free assistance and legal aid in Lanzarote receive a subsidy of more than 600,000 euros

The four bar associations of the Canary Islands have obtained 9,230,397 euros and the two associations of solicitors 1,070,916

The Government Council of the Canary Islands learned this Thursday, February 4, of the subsidies granted in the second semester of 2020 to the bar associations and solicitors of the Islands for the provision of free legal assistance and legal aid, which in the case of Lanzarote amounts to 606,194.43 euros.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, a total of 10,301,313.28 euros were granted through these subsidies, which have been processed by the Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security. After being taken to the Governing Council, the Canarian Executive points out that it complies with the Law of General Budgets of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2020, which establishes that the subsidies granted to the bar associations and solicitors for the provision of free legal assistance and legal aid will be reported on a semi-annual basis.

These aids were granted to the bar associations of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Lanzarote, for an amount of 9,230,397.28 euros, and to the associations of Solicitors of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with 1,070,916 euros.

Regarding the list of subsidies, 4,993,507.81 euros corresponded to the Association of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and 3,057,807.75 euros to the Bar Association of Las Palmas. The one in Lanzarote, as already mentioned above, received 606,194.43 euros, and the one in Santa Cruz de La Palma 572,887.29 euros.

As for the associations of solicitors, the one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife was granted 713,049 euros in subsidies, and the one in Las Palmas, a total of 357,867 euros.
