Fernando Clavijo became the candidate for the Presidency of the Government in the May 2015 elections this Friday, after defeating Paulino Rivero by 45 votes to 40 in the first vote, in which there were also six abstentions.
Neither of the two candidates obtained three-fifths, but Rivero, after the first vote, decided to withdraw. In this way, the regional president has chosen not to apply the "blocking of a minority", since no candidate has reached 3/5, as the island secretaries agreed with the party's general secretary in their day.
However, there was a second vote in which the also president of CC in Tenerife, Fernando Clavijo, obtained 66 votes in favor, 22 abstentions and two null votes.
Fernando Clavijo Batlle has been mayor of San Cristóbal de La Laguna since November 2008. Married and father of two daughters, he was born on August 10, 1971 in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a municipality in which he has lived ever since.
He has a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the University of La Laguna.
