The Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, has made public a report from the Local Police of Yaiza to ensure that the president of the Strike Committee, Antonio Bonilla, "lied when assuring that on August 17 the capacity of the Cueva de los Verdes had been exceeded." In that report, the agents point out that when they went to this Tourist Center "there were 257 people inside, including the guides", which is well below the allowed capacity, which is 400 people.
"It is unacceptable that the president of the Strike Committee even stated before the public opinion that there were many more people than allowed, a reprehensible lie that only sought to prevent tourists from accessing the center," says the councilor.
Bonilla presented this complaint on the third day of the strike at the Centers, when La Cueva was still open, although only for private excursions with a guide. In a call to the Civil Guard, he warned that there were more than 400 people inside, so agents from the Benemérita and the Local Police of Haría, who were also notified, went there.
It was the local police who accessed La Cueva to check how many people were inside. And as La Voz reported that day, the count was below the allowed capacity. In this regard, Bonilla assured that day that when the agents arrived, some groups had already left La Cueva.
