The gastronomy of Lanzarote entered the homes of about two million people during the evening of this Sunday, since TVE broadcast in its space "España Directo" a 5-minute report dedicated to the island's cuisine. Reporter Concha Crespo boarded a boat from Playa Blanca and, together with local fishermen, went out to fish to later cook a grouper from the Canary Islands.

For the second vice president of the Cabildo and CEO of the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, Ástrid Pérez, with this initiative "it has been achieved that a team from this successful national program travel to the island to help in the promotion and dissemination of Canarian cuisine." One of the dishes made by the chefs of the Tourist Centers had as its main ingredient the grouper, which was prepared at the MIAC- Castillo de San José.

Along with this space, TVE will soon project two other new reports made by reporter Concha Crespo in the network of restaurants of the Tourist Centers. Thus, viewers will be able to discover some of the ideal culinary dishes for these Christmas holidays with specific products from Lanzarote and the Canary Islands.

Another of the gastronomic proposals will revolve around the Canarian black pig, a native species of the Islands before the arrival of Europeans in the 15th century. In recent times, important tasks are being carried out to preserve this species. So much so, that the piece made in the restaurant of the Farmer's Monument was selected from the experimental farm of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

Gastronomic route

Ástrid Pérez recalled that Lanzarote is part of the Saborea España Route, where "an important work is being developed to disseminate and promote the island's wine and gastronomy route as a tourist attraction." These special reports for TVE will include images of the largest natural oven in the world located in the El Diablo restaurant, in the Montañas del Fuego.

The recording of these reports has had the collaboration of the Arrecife Gran Hotel, the Tourist Board and the network of Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo de Lanzarote. The report broadcast this Sunday can be seen in this link within the rtve.es/alacarta area in the España Directo space.
