The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands allocated 404,436.61 euros to the expansion of the sports hall of the Yaiza Secondary Education Institute (IES), in the Lanzarote municipality of the same name. This action allows the center to have facilities that allow a complete and safe development of physical activity in the school environment.

Specifically, the work consists of the construction of a cubic volume attached to the existing pavilion, with dimensions of 11.40 meters wide by 24.40 meters long and three meters high. This new space, conceived as a functional extension of the current sports hall, will house changing rooms, toilets and a material storage area, essential services for the proper development of physical education classes and other sports activities of the center.

With this expansion, motivated by the need to incorporate storage areas for materials necessary for the development of physical education activity, it will facilitate its practice in optimal conditions, guaranteeing the safety and accessibility of the site for all students, teachers and staff of the center, in accordance with the established requirements.

This line of action is part of the strategic planning carried out in centers throughout the archipelago by the General Directorate of Infrastructure and Equipment, coordinated by Iván G. Carro, with the aim of providing them with safe, functional and accessible spaces.

For the department headed by Poli Suárez, it is "of vital importance to provide Canarian schools with infrastructures adapted to the new times, which not only favor the integral development of students, but also promote inclusion, equal opportunities and the regular practice of physical activity from an early age".
