The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, and the president of the Popular Party of the municipality have participated this Wednesday in the program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to respond to rumors of crisis within the Popular Party and the possible departure of Alejandro Ramírez, councilor of Sports of Teguise, who assured this Tuesday that "he would leave his position if they moved him from his area."
"I do not experience directly what may be between the colleagues of the PP and at least it does not affect me in my work as mayoress of Teguise and neither as a government group of the municipality. I see Alejandro working the same as always, communicating the sports issues to me and if there have been [their] ups and downs, they are normal because I have had them with my colleagues from CC in Teguise. It is an internal issue of the PP in which I am not going to enter and it does not affect me because we continue working for and for the municipality," the mayoress has declared.
Regarding the possible departure of Alejandro Ramírez from the party, Duque has stated that "I have not contacted anyone and obviously opposition colleagues have approached me worrying about colleague Ramírez and it seems normal to me, but I think that when something works, I don't need to knock on any doors."
Likewise, she continued saying that "I have no different complaints from sports clubs compared to previous years and even this year they will be entered about two weeks earlier. It is true that the subsidies are delayed for everyone, not only for sports clubs, but also for associations and groups in the municipality."
For his part, the president of the Popular Party in Teguise, Ángel Vázquez, has assured that "he has not heard the statements of Alejandro Ramírez" but has explained that "the councilorships carried out by the party are done under a series of criteria and they can be changed during the legislature according to the circumstances."
"It is not a personal matter of choosing what I want and when I want, and if not, I get angry, those things don't work like that with me. I will sit down in a meeting but things work according to the decisions of the party and its criteria," he concluded.
