Democracia Real Ya will hold an assembly next Friday, September 16, at 7:00 p.m., in La Plazuela de Arrecife, in which the strategies to be followed to exert pressure on the administrations in the face of "the changes that are taking place with regard to cuts in the public sector" will be debated.

The platform thus shows its rejection of the privatization of health, education and other public services and expresses its support for the demonstrations that will be held on September 18 throughout the country, to protest against social cuts. "We hope that this meeting will be the beginning of a continued collaboration aimed at defending the rights of citizens," they say in a statement.

From Democracia Real Ya they demand that the privatization be stopped, with the repeal of Law 15/97 (Health) and all the regional regulations that develop it, and that private centers return to public hands. They also request the gradual suppression of educational and health agreements, while increasing staff and public centers, to guarantee coverage of all demand from the public sector.

Democracia Real Ya also says no to the sale of the health assets of Social Security and the transfer of public land to private companies, as well as to co-payment/repayment in health, education or justice. "No to tax relief for private health insurance, or for private or subsidized education" and "No to contracts and subcontracts in education", they add from the platform.

Likewise, Democracia Real Ya requests that health spending be increased, which is "two points below the average of the EU-15" and that it also be increased in education "up to 6 percent of GDP".

In the field of education, Democracia Real Ya also rejects the implementation of the European Higher Education Area and calls for the elimination of loan scholarships, as well as all the reforms contained in the University Strategy 2015.

Finally, the platform requests an agreement that excludes the profit motive in all public services and that there be no constitutional limits on public spending. "There is money and plenty of it. Whether it is used to satisfy social needs or to fatten parasites does not depend on which party governs, but on which class is in power," they conclude.
