The General Directorate of Coast and Sea Sustainability publishes this Monday in the Official Gazette of the province of Las Palmas the announcement of the beginning of the file for the recovery of the public maritime-terrestrial domain "unduly occupied" by tourist apartments in Playa del Ancla, in Costa Teguise.

According to the announcement, some facilities of the Playa Roca apartments, on Avenida del Mar in Costa Teguise, between Playa del Ancla and Playa Bastián, occupy the maritime-terrestrial easement. These are the swimming pool, accesses, stairs, enclosure walls, paving, artificial waterfall and gardens. In total, more than 1,300 square meters would have been occupied according to the Costa Teguise demarcation, carried out in September 2006.

Costas thus begins the recovery of this space. It indicates that if the works were built prior to the 1998 Coasts Law without authorization or concession required in accordance with the legislation in force at the time, they will be demolished when their legalization is not appropriate for reasons of general interest, although Costas considers that they are not of general interest. "No reason can be appreciated

any of "public interest" in a private building of such characteristics", says the announcement. It also points out that the public domain does not prescribe.

Therefore, this Directorate, dependent on the Ministry of the Environment, has decided to act ex officio and recover said space and informs the owners, the company Playa Roca Investments, that they have eight days to present allegations. If these are rejected, "the necessary measures will be adopted for the possessory recovery of the occupied public domain, through subsidiary execution and eviction, where appropriate." The apartments have 85 accommodation units and about 240 beds.
