The deputy and spokesperson for the Canarian socialists in the General Courts, Dolores Corujo, criticized this Thursday in Arrecife "the behavior of the Popular Party at the negotiating table for the reduction of regional debt and regretted that, in the case of the Canary Islands, where they govern, they are capable of turning their backs on such important economic resources for essential services simply for partisan interests."
With this "already repetitive" behavior, Corujo stated, "the Popular Party has become the main problem for the interests of the citizens of our country and mainly for the interests of our land, where it has disregarded its government responsibilities in order to try to harm President Pedro Sánchez and Minister Ángel Víctor Torres."
She recalled that the PP already voted against the revaluation of pensions, the bonus for public transport and the funds for the reconstruction of La Palma, and that "now it rejects the forgiveness of regional debt, despite the fact that the Canary Islands would be the region most benefited proportionally by this measure." Therefore, and looking at its government partner, Coalición Canaria, she asked aloud: "Who governs in the Canary Islands? Are the interests of Génova governing? Are the interests of Mr. Feijóo governing?"
"What we have seen this Wednesday in the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council is that the interests of the PP prevail over the interests of the citizens in the Canary Islands. A land where there is significant inequality and also significant structural poverty rates, this behavior of those who hold government responsibility should lead us to a reflection," said Corujo.
"We demand an immediate rectification from Coalición Canaria and the Popular Party and, above all, that the interests of the citizens of our land prevail over the interests of the Popular Party and Génova, which has little or no interest in the Canary Islands," insisted the deputy and spokesperson for the Canarian socialists in the General Courts.
