The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Cabildo of Lanzarote requests, through a motion that will be debated in the plenary session on April 20, that the institution resume the project “Arrecife Capital of the Biosphere Reserve” and, in particular, commission and execute the project “Naos Urban Park”, proposed and promoted by the Council of the Biosphere Reserve.
The deputy spokesperson for the nationalists, Pedro San Ginés, points out that this is a project that "was promoted during the past term, and had the work of the prestigious architect Juan Palop, as well as the approval of the Arrecife City Council".
“The Cabildo carried out an Urban Maritime Park project crossed by the cruise ship promenade, which integrates the monument in homage to the victims of the Cruz del Mar and the schooner María del Rosario, rescued by the Cabildo from the scrapyard for its restoration, as an identifying heritage element of the people we were until very recently”, explains San Ginés.
The nationalists recall that the intention was to project in said area "an urban park in an area of 9,000 square meters, moving the wall of the Port Authority towards the sea and incorporating the schooner into the park, thus gaining public space for the enjoyment of the citizens".
“The idea was even presented to the port authority in its day, and it was received very well given that the park would be crossed precisely by the cruise ship promenade, offering both them and the residents a place of rest, shade, and connectivity in the broadest sense”, points out the Councilor of Coalición Canaria.
From CC they point out that the idea, which they maintain that the architect managed to advance at the preliminary draft level, "proposes artificial trees with local vertical gardening, which create shade and house services such as bathrooms, tourist information, transport ticket sales, WI-FI connection, etc.". “All with blade-free wind energy generators, incorporated for the energy self-sufficiency of the whole”, emphasizes San Ginés.
“For this reason, we propose to the Cabildo and the Government of the Canary Islands that they recover the Arrecife Capital of the Biosphere Reserve project and, in particular, that they execute the Naos Urban Park project that the reserve proposed for this emblematic place”, asserts the nationalist councilor.
