Finally, Miguel Martín will once again head the list for Coalición Canaria for the third year. This Tuesday he was officially proclaimed candidate for mayor in an act in which the internal discrepancies of the local council were also forgotten. "There were many people rubbing their hands together because we were going to have a terrible fight in San Bartolomé", said Mario Pérez.
However, the act served to join forces around the upcoming elections. Juan Antonio de la Hoz was the first to speak in front of the "nationalist family" that had gathered at the Casa Mayor Guerra in San Bartolomé. The insular president of Coalición Canaria, Mario Pérez, thanked "the work that has been done in the Local Committee" and wanted to stage the gratitude in Juan Antonio de la Hoz and some members of the committee, "because without them we would not have had this act here with the attendance of all of us", he assured.
In this way he was referring to the internal division that existed in the Local Council, between those who were betting on continuity, represented in the current mayor of San Bartolomé, and the renewal of Juan Antonio de la Hoz. Miguel Martín also made references to those "small differences" and expressed his desire to "count on the support of all attendees".
During his speech he highlighted the difficulties of governability that they have had in the municipality during this legislature. "There have been many problems within the City Council. Coalición Canaria suffered a crisis and the CCN and PNL, which were in the government group, abandoned halfway through the legislature". Although he highlighted some of the projects that they have carried out in the Corporation despite governing in minority.
The proclamation ceremony was also attended by the vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Maria Del Mar Julios. With this appointment, only Arrecife and Tías remain to define their candidates for the municipal elections. Another issue will be the Parliament and the Cabildo. Although if the calendar is met, next week, Coalición Canaria will have shown all its cards.
