Coalición Canaria of Teguise has accused the current PIL-PSOE Government group of "destroying the Board of Trustees of the Lanzarote Hospitality School", as well as of "changing to inadequate and obsolete Study Plans and that the City Council has to bear a good part of its expenses", which correspond to 136,000 euros.

In this situation, the nationalists have decided to present a motion to the City Council to "urgently convene the Governing Council of the School to learn about the current situation", "plan and adapt the study plans for the 2008-2009 academic year" as well as "address the Cabildo to urge it to create an Island Commission of the School, where the municipalities, the Tourism Board, the CACTs and the Government of the Canary Islands are represented, being a model of common management".

"The trajectory of the school throughout its history has not been ideal. It has suffered many ups and downs in its management and has not had enough support from other administrations. However, it was awarded the Canary Islands Tourism Prize, thanks to the effort made for many years by its director Salvador Moret", explain from the nationalist group.

In addition, the nationalists point out that the City Council of Teguise has been the one that has had to bear almost all the economic burden (more than 500,000 euros per year), except for some specific support from the Cabildo.

"Several years ago, the management model was changed, creating the Board of Trustees of the Lanzarote Hospitality School, teaching a new Study Plan, with its respective Statutes that regulate the organization and operation, always seeking greater autonomy and efficiency in its management and support from the Ministries of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands", point out from Coalición Canaria, where they also remember that "during this last period the city council only cost a subsidy of 6,000 euros per year, and now it is 136,000".

"Coalición Canaria of Teguise has always supported this School, as we consider it very important to cover this education on a tourist island like ours, which strives for a quality destination. But given its island character, all institutions should support it, and not only Teguise", they declare.
