The Nationalist Group in the Arrecife City Council has added Maneje to the Action Plan in the Neighborhoods designed "to provide solutions to the real problems that the residents of the capital encounter in their day to day". With this, and after the nationalists' proposals for Argana, Tinasoria and Titerroy were approved in plenary, there are already four neighborhoods that the CC-PNC councilors have toured "exhaustively, collecting information from residents and meeting with different associations and groups.

"We said it from the moment we proposed this Action Plan in the Neighborhoods. To truly know the needs of each and every one of them, you have to be there, you have to walk each of their streets and listen to the residents and groups who are the ones who really suffer day to day," stressed the nationalist spokesperson, Echedey Eugenio, who points out that from his desire "to make a constructive opposition that benefits the residents of Arrecife", the aim is that "this Action Plan serves as a working guide for the government group".

"We can do the preliminary work and make all our help available to them, but the government group is the one that has the tools in its hands to provide solutions to each of the demands," he says.

Thus, after recalling that Maneje is one of the northernmost neighborhoods of the city, where more than 2,000 residents live and which has "an important growth potential", Coalición Canaria highlights that this neighborhood, separated from Arrecife by the ring road, also has "one of the largest recreational spaces in the municipality, but it is also one of the most underutilized leisure areas". "The park has no maintenance and activities are conspicuous by their absence," says Eugenio.

CC points out that Maneje also houses the facilities of the Taxi Cooperative, facilities where the group meets that, together with the neighborhood association that manages the cultural center, the children's murga or the batucada, develop citizen participation in the day-to-day life of the neighborhood. "We have met with all of them, collected suggestions and prepared an action guide," emphasizes the CC spokesperson-

Demands

In this guide, converted into a motion, it is included, for example, the preparation and contracting of a signage and painting plan for the neighborhood, the repair and replacement of public lighting, the replacement and acoustic insulation of the manhole covers to avoid accidents and noise problems, or the execution of an asphalting and sidewalk replacement plan making all its streets accessible.

Among the demands of the neighborhood, pointed out by the residents themselves according to CC, is also "the need for monitoring and improvement of the cleanliness and care of the Maneje park as well as the planters of the streets and new gardens".

For the nationalists, it is also necessary to carry out a comprehensive fumigation and rat extermination of the neighborhood coordinated with that carried out by the company managing the sanitation service and to remove abandoned vehicles from public roads in compliance with municipal ordinances.

"The neighborhood demands new playgrounds and the repair of existing ones, the replacement of the signs that name the streets... More containers are needed and the location of those for selective collection needs to be improved, and a raised crosswalk needs to be placed on Iguazú street," says Echedey Eugenio. "Greater security, reinforcing the presence of the local police and urging the national police, is another of the main demands of the citizens who live in Maneje," adds CC

To all these demands, we must also add the drafting and execution of a project for the elimination of existing overhead cables, carrying out a comprehensive shock cleaning plan in public areas and plots, repairing and improving the sports courts, and replacing the goals, baskets and fencing of the same and improving and equipping the cultural center, implementing in it a program of cultural and sports action "that gives life to the space and presents to the neighbors attractive and healthy leisure alternatives".

"With all certainty, there are many more needs that this neighborhood has and we will continue working and proposing possible solutions. We trust that, as has happened with the motions of the rest of the neighborhoods, this will also be approved in plenary unanimously, that the relevant actions will be executed and that this Plan will not remain a mere declaration of intent," concludes the spokesperson of the Nationalist Group.
