The Lanzarote parliamentarian of the Canarian Nationalist Group (CC-PNC-AHI) Jesús Machín Tavío, has asked the Minister of Education, Manuela Armas, about the status of different educational infrastructures on the island.
“We want to know the situation of everything planned by the Ministry of Education; schools and institutes historically demanded by the educational community, which managed to move forward in the past term, but we do not know at what point in the procedure they are at the moment”, he pointed out.
In this way, he recalled that in the budgets for the year 2021, there is an item for the CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés in the municipality of Tías, as is the CEIP el Quintero de San Bartolomé and, in the same municipality, the extension of the IES.
“It is curious that a City Council like that of San Bartolomé is selling the work of a school that has not started as almost finished”, said Machín, who insisted on knowing the true situation of the files in order to transfer to the citizens at what point are those educational infrastructures so necessary on the island. And it is that, for example, he pointed out that "we must not forget that last year the budget item for the Zonzamas Integrated Vocational Training Center was lost, and, apparently, the same thing could happen this year if no action is taken now".
“They had the project and the money, all that was missing was to award it. This is a work that is essential for a reference center for Vocational Training in Lanzarote, but it seems that it will not be executed this year either”, lamented the nationalist deputy.
According to Jesús Machín Tavío, "it is also not known at what point is the extension of the gymnasium of the CEIP Virgen de los Volcanes in Tinajo. a historical demand of the City Council, whose project was delivered to the Ministry".
“And so municipality after municipality, whose city councils, mainly Haría, Tinajo and Yaiza ask for even shade areas”, said Machín, after recalling that, in addition, the mayor of Yaiza has personally conveyed to him the importance of remodeling the IES Yaiza. “Apparently there are two classrooms committed for the Yaiza school of which nothing is known either”.
The dining room of the CEIP La Garita in the north of the island has been another of the infrastructures for which Jesús Machín has asked the Minister of Education, pointing out that "despite having an item from the previous year, nothing is known, nor has the Minister given any response to the questions asked in writing by the parliamentarian of the Nationalist Group".
