CC has denounced that after the start of July, and after almost a year and a half of pandemic, "nothing is known about the aid to the self-employed and companies to alleviate the damage of Covid-19, which the president of the Cabildo Lanzarote, M ª Dolores Corujo, promised in January would be ready in March."
The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the first institution does not understand "what the socialist leader is waiting for to convene them when it turns out that the bases for their concession were approved in the plenary session of May." “It is a real shame that the State's Covid aid for companies and the self-employed can already be requested, just as the aid from the Government of the Canary Islands and the rest of the island councils could be requested in their day (which have already been granted), some of which are already in their second call, while in Lanzarote, affected companies and the self-employed are still waiting for the president, M ª Dolores Corujo, to deem it appropriate to convene them,” said the deputy spokesman for CC-PNC, Pedro San Ginés.
“Maybe it turns out that it is also CC's fault that the PSOE and PP government in the Cabildo of Lanzarote is the only one in all of the Canary Islands that has not been able to adequately manage this crisis to provide economic coverage to those sectors that need it most,” adds San Ginés.
The nationalists describe the delay as "shameful and inexplicable" and do not understand "how the example of islands such as Fuerteventura cannot be followed, which more than a month ago gave the green light to a second call, about five times higher than that of Lanzarote".
“It is the never-ending story of aid that never arrives, which has forced many businessmen and the self-employed, in desperation, to close down”. Are the promised aid really going to be called?, they ask from CC, from where they insist, once again, that "in the event that they arrive (something that nobody believes anymore), they will do so with such a delay that the already scarce economic endowment is going to be completely ridiculous".
And, they point out that "the 6 million euros approved by the Government of the Cabildo are far from the 15 million proposed by the nationalists, and those enabled, for example, by Fuerteventura, which already had 6 million euros in 2020 and a month ago announced a second call for another 11 million euros".
“This president who came to dignify the institution has forgotten what is truly important. Two months have passed since the approval of the bases in the plenary session of May 6, and we are still the same or worse, because between what they have taken to lower the island to level 1 and the total inaction when it comes to giving effective answers, M ª Dolores Corujo is destroying the entire island's business economic fabric and the future of Lanzarote and La Graciosa,” asserts San Ginés, who also points out that "it was Corujo herself, president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who with her vote in Parliament, denied all the people of Lanzarote and Graciosa a specific economic recovery plan".
