CC denounces the loss of 100,000 euros in aid to the vineyards "due to the government of the Cabildo"

"We are completely in agreement that items should be enabled for aid to coastal fishing, but not that it should be done to the detriment of the subsidies approved for the maintenance of the vineyards", says Domingo Cejas

The Nationalist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote (CC-PNC) denounces the loss of more than 100,000 euros in subsidies for the maintenance of the vineyards of La Geria "due to the senselessness of a government (PSOE-PP) that, through a credit modification file, has decided to allocate that money to aid to coastal fishing".

"We are completely in agreement that items should be enabled for aid to coastal fishing, but not that it should be done to the detriment of the subsidies approved for the maintenance of the vineyards of La Geria, which is what the government group chaired by Mª Dolores Corujo has done", says CC councilor Domingo Cejas.

The nationalists clarify that, although it is true that there have been difficulties in implementing these aids through the Regulatory Council, what was agreed in 2018 is that, given these difficulties, in 2019 some subsidies would be drawn up and that, subsequently, the Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Vinos de Lanzarote would become a collaborating entity.

Cejas insists that the government group should have done its job, "which was not to get rid of the item for La Geria and enable it for the fishermen, but to draw up the subsidies as had been agreed and if, in addition, they enabled aid for coastal fishing, so much the better".

The nationalists thus emphasize that the Cabildo has sufficient resources not to sacrifice the subsidies "for the maintenance of that extraordinary space that they defend so much but whose item they get rid of, at the first opportunity".

In this way, the Canary Coalition Group requests that the aforementioned item be replaced in the 2020 financial year and, if possible, that its amount be doubled to compensate for the losses of this year.
