The Local Committee of Coalición Canaria (CC) in Arrecife has registered a motion in the capital's City Council requesting the government group to address the General Directorate of Cadastre to demand a new cadastral presentation for the city.
The nationalist group's request is based on the fact that "the preparation of the last cadastral presentation - dating from 2007 - coincided with the peak of the real estate bubble in the capital of the Island and, as a result, housing values were overvalued to the point that the cadastral value exceeds, in many cases, the real value of the properties".
Therefore, and especially taking into account the "economically critical" moment that numerous families in Arrecife are suffering, CC understands that "it is necessary to carry out a cadastral review that allows it to be adapted to the real value of the homes", they point out from the nationalist formation.
"Given that the Government of Spain is presided over by the PSOE, and in two months it is foreseeable that the Popular Party will do so, and that both formations currently maintain a government pact in Arrecife, we appeal to them to demonstrate their management capacity to solve a problem that affects the citizens of Arrecife, especially in the neighborhoods, which is where the cadastral value of housing skyrocketed the most and where, unfortunately, the effect of the crisis is most noticeable", the nationalists conclude.
