Outraged by the "hypocritical and deceitful attitude" of the socialists from Lanzarote", because they keep a "shameful silence" in the face of the decision of the General Directorate of Coasts of the Spanish Government to appeal the agreement of the COTMAC through which it was possible to reduce the demarcation of El Golfo to 20 meters, if Coasts had accepted it. Coalición Canaria de Lanzarote has expressed itself with this forcefulness, whose top leader, Mario Pérez, has asked the Socialist Party for explanations and has warned that "the concern of the residents - for the rejection of the resolution - will take its toll."
Mario Pérez has once again asked that Coasts "accept the agreement ratified by the Canary Islands body and rectify the width of the easement, keeping it at 20 meters", which is possible with the COTMAC resolution because it recognizes the consolidation of the urban land of El Golfo prior to the entry into force of the Coasts Law of 1988.
"Where are the socialists from Lanzarote hiding now, both their national deputy and the senator? What do their candidates think about the decision of Coasts?", asks the island president of CC. "Let them explain to the families of El Golfo what will happen to their houses and what their future will be", they demand from the Nationalist Party.
According to Mario Pérez they would give explanations "if they were honest with themselves and with the citizens". In addition, he warns the PSOE that "they will never be able to avoid the shame of representing a party that does not take into account the demands, totally legitimate and in accordance with the legislation, of the residents of El Golfo". He also recalled that "the inhabitants of the area have shown their concern and unease about the determination of Coasts not to accept a consensus agreement from the public administrations of the Canary Islands and from the affected residents themselves."
