María del Carmen Guadalupe García took office this Thursday as the new councilor of the Socialist Party in Yaiza, replacing Elena Alejandra López, who resigned from her position in the municipality.
The general secretary of the party on the island, María Dolores Corujo, and other PSOE leaders such as José Juan Cruz, Joaquín Carballo and Antonio Rocío, attended the plenary session to support the new socialist councilor in her inauguration.
"In these difficult times in which citizens are discontent and increasingly critical of public work, I want to express my conviction that now, more than ever, is the time to do politics. A policy aimed at achieving the common good, clean, transparent and participatory," said the councilor.
"I will act under the mandate of those who elected me at the polls, to try to make this community move towards progress, sustainable development and equality for all its neighbors," said the councilor.
From her position in the opposition, María del Carmen Guadalupe pledged to work "to achieve these objectives", and also to fulfill her "mission as auditor of the management of the Government group". "But I will do so from the most constructive spirit, which in my opinion is what the inhabitants of Yaiza need and deserve, and their territory, so punished in the past by bad policies".
