The auditor Carlos Sáenz, who was released this Tuesday after 10 months in provisional prison for the "Montecarlo" case, has requested his reinstatement in the Arrecife City Council. Sáenz held a meeting in the Secretariat with the secretary this Wednesday.
Apparently, the Arrecife City Council could request a report from the Public Service to know what decision it should adopt with respect to Carlos Sáenz. It should be remembered that Sáenz has a position as auditor in Arrecife, and in Teguise and San Bartolomé he was working as an auditor by "accumulation", although the Public Service has already authorized these councils to cover the position with another person.
Sáenz left the Tahíche prison this Tuesday afternoon, after the judge of the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife, Aurora García, agreed to do so in an order. Likewise, the businessman José Montesinos, who had also been in provisional prison for 10 months, was also released.
Carlos Sáenz was arrested in Lanzarote on May 22, 2012, but first he testified in the Courts of Fuerteventura and then he was transferred to Arrecife. The Courts of both islands decided to send him to provisional prison.
Sáenz is charged with five crimes: embezzlement of public funds, bribery, money laundering, prevarication and falsehood in a public document. In addition, he will have to testify before the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife on April 2.
