The electoral coalition formed by the Nationalist Party of Lanzarote-Nueva Canarias and Opción por Lanzarote has designated Juan Carlos Becerra Robayna as candidate for the presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. Becerra has also been named candidate for deputy of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, in the coalition that PNL has sealed with the PIL. Thus, Becerra will accompany the president of the PIL on the joint list that both parties will present to Parliament, and which will be headed by Fabián Martín.
Juan Carlos Becerra has been president of the Cabildo, parliamentarian and Minister of Tourism and Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the different formations in which he has militated, and in which the PIL and Coalición Canaria are included. According to his current party in a statement, the president of the PNL "has been characterized by placing Lanzarote in the place that corresponds to it inside and outside the Canary Islands, which is none other than the third place in the Canary Islands by population and contribution to the wealth of the Archipelago".
In this sense, they recall that he was "the creator" of the Infrastructure Plans of the Government of the Canary Islands that "meant so much investment for Lanzarote and that today the current Government has forgotten with the support of those who say they represent the people of Lanzarote in the Parliament of the Canary Islands".
According to PNL-Nueva Canarias and Opción por Lanzarote, Becerra's career has always been linked "to the defense of the interests of Lanzarote, to the modernization and development of the island's infrastructure and to the struggle for Lanzarote to have the political weight that corresponds to it in the Canary Islands".
For Juan Carlos Becerra, the mistreatment that Lanzarote receives in the Budgets of the Government of the Canary Islands needs "a firm opposition in defense of the island that does not yield under any concept to the interests of ATI-Coalición Canaria, as has been happening until now". "It is necessary that people who only follow the slogans of the citizens of Lanzarote can defend their interests with solvency", these parties defend through a statement.
