Banesto was awarded the Siglo XXI building this Tuesday, through an auction that took place in a notary's office in Arrecife. From that notary's office they have indicated that the only one who has appeared at this third auction has been the bank, but they have not wanted to reveal how much money the property has been awarded for.

Pedro Quintana, one of the buyers of homes in this building, stood at 9.45 am in front of the Pérez Polo notary's office, where the auction was held. Quintana entered the notary's office, accompanied by several media outlets, and asked to meet with the notary. He attended to him for a couple of minutes, but the conversation ended in an argument. "The law is being complied with here," the notary blurted out to him, at the doors of his office, before which Quintana left the building.

"I had an argument with him, because he told me that I am a liar and I told him that these words were unnecessary. I told him that if he believes I am lying, he should report me, that he should go to the Courts. We are tired of intimidation, threats and illegalities," said Pedro Quintana.

In this brief conversation, Quintana was unable to talk about the complaint he has filed against the notary in the Courts, whom he has denounced "for an alleged crime of prevarication". This affected party argues that, according to the mortgage regulations, "if a criminal complaint for falsehood is admitted, the notary is obliged to stop the auction", something that has not happened.

"Very sad and scammed"

Quintana, who went to this notary accompanied by another affected party, who did not want to make statements, was "very sad" and "scammed". "Not only as a buyer but as a citizen, seeing the corruption that exists in this country. The looting that exists by powerful people with white gloves. This country has become a Democracy of powerful thieves," he denounced.

Quintana has indicated that now Banesto will try "that the buyers who continue to have economic capacity continue with the acquisition of the house", but he has reminded the bank that "many affected parties" have a ruling from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), which obliges the return of the money they contributed as a down payment. "The alleged arrangement of a notary cannot be worth more than a judge's ruling," he stated.

"Justice has to act. With my banner I am going to move to the headquarters of Banesto in Madrid, to the TSJC in Las Palmas and to the TSJC in Madrid. I am not going to stop until I get Justice. I will continue protesting," said Pedro Quintana, who has assured that he "will continue with the hunger strike" that he started this Monday, but he does not know until when.
