Astrid Pérez, aware of "the reality of the pediatrics area in Lanzarote", is committed to "the implementation of a neuropediatrician for the treatment of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)" on the island, reports the PP.
"Several associations have urgently requested the implementation of a neuropediatrician on the island, who can provide dignified care to children suffering from this disease," says the candidate.
In this regard, Pérez assures that, after "the poor health management carried out by the 'pact of the flowers' in this last legislature", Lanzarote has been left "at the bottom in healthcare matters." "It will be a priority for Manuel Domínguez, when he assumes the presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, to strengthen public healthcare in Lanzarote," she assures.
Astrid Pérez also maintains that, based on the proposals put forward by the Popular Party for the island in healthcare matters, there is also "the demanded reinforcement of the Oncology area of the José Molina Orosa Hospital, as well as the commissioning of the radiotherapy bunker," she clarifies.
"Lanzarote patients with cancer have to continue taking a plane to Gran Canaria to treat their disease"
"They have been selling us for years, with great fanfare, the 'immediate' opening of the radiotherapy bunker," she says. "The legislature is coming to an end and the reality is that the works have not finished, and that Lanzarote patients with cancer have to continue taking a plane to Gran Canaria to treat their disease," laments Astrid Pérez.
On the other hand, and also as one of the proposals to improve healthcare in Lanzarote, the PP will create a "mixed ICU that unites the current neonatal ICU and pediatric ICU," she states. "This union only exists in the University Hospital of the Canary Islands (HUC), in Tenerife, and its creation in Lanzarote would significantly facilitate the work of healthcare professionals," she concludes.
