The Municipal Government of Arrecife, led by Mayor Yonathan de León, is undertaking different works to renovate and improve sports facilities in the neighborhoods of the capital of Lanzarote.

The recent openings of two multi-purpose courts in the Titerroy neighborhood are joined by new investments in municipal sports facilities in the neighborhoods of San Francisco Javier, Argana Alta, Las Salinas, which are underway, along with the construction of a visor on the Arrecife Port Football Field, located between the neighborhoods of Altavista, Valterra and Titerroy.

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the island councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, and the councilor of Sports, Eli Merino, visited this Tuesday the works that will allow the premiere in the second semester of this year of the new visor in the municipal football field of the Port of Arrecife, next to the municipal swimming pools.

During this visit, it was possible to verify the progress in the raising of the wall located to the west, the place that will house the visor on the grandstand created in concrete.

The Arrecife City Council put out to tender last year the construction and installation of the visor on the grandstands of the Arrecife Port football field, in the capital of Lanzarote, with an investment of more than 300,000 euros.

The work has a base bidding budget of 331,400.26 euros, and is financed from the funds of the Island Cooperation plans, managed by the Department of Public Works, led by the island councilor Jacobo Medina. This work, the mayor recalled this Tuesday, "will resolve a historical demand of the capital clubs, and particularly the fans, by having a shaded area during the development of the football matches that are played on this football field in the capital of Lanzarote".

The mayor recalls that the fans of many sports clubs attend these facilities weekly, who play their matches on this field, in addition to being in a neuralgic area of the city due to its proximity to the neighborhoods of Altavista, El Lomo, Los Alonso and Valterra, in the center of the capital.

The Department of Sports, led by councilor Eli Merino, is investing more than 5 million euros during this term in the improvement, expansion, and renovation of sports facilities in the neighborhoods of Arrecife, several of which are under execution, and others in planning.

The island councilor of Public Works has highlighted that "the injection of funds from Municipal Cooperation is allowing the promotion of public works on the island, one of its axes as councilor of this matter, which strengthens employment through investment in public works".
