The Department of Culture of the Arrecife City Council is launching this Tuesday, November 19, the activity Neighborhoods in Calm, a program dedicated to promoting the emotional well-being of children in Arrecife through yoga, mindfulness, and emotional education sessions.
This initiative is part of the Chinijos en Calma project, whose objective is the creation of safe and calm environments for minors, and is fully financed by the Culture Area.
The program will offer free activities for children aged 6 to 8 in different neighborhoods of the city and will be developed in two different locations to adapt to the neighborhoods involved. The first group, aimed at children from Valterra and Los Alonsos, will be held at CEIP Adolfo Topham every Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., from November 19, 2024 to February 25, 2025.
On the other hand, the second group, which includes the neighborhoods of Altavista and Tinasoria, will take place at CEIP Los Geranios every Wednesday at the same time, starting on November 20, 2024 and ending on March 5, 2025.
Both groups will offer a unique opportunity for children to enjoy free activities focused on their emotional development and well-being, with limited places to ensure adequate attention.
With an approach based on practical tools such as yoga and mindfulness, the project seeks to teach the little ones to manage their emotions, reduce stress, and develop skills that will accompany them in their daily lives. The sessions will be led by Malena García Díaz, an instructor specialized in children's emotional education.
The Councilor for Culture, Abigail González, has highlighted the importance of these activities. "From Cultura Arrecife we support and support those initiatives that help our children grow emotionally strong and with resources to face the challenges of everyday life," says the mayor.
Likewise, the capital's head of Culture has emphasized that "Neighborhoods in Calm is an opportunity for them to acquire tools that improve their personal and social well-being."
The activity has limited capacity and, therefore, interested families are advised to contact as soon as possible through the information provided on the official posters.
