Arrecife will enable, starting this Friday, July 12, the appointment booking telephone 900 214 301 for the presentation of applications for the wallet cards that will be managed by the Government of the Canary Islands and distributed by the Red Cross until December of this year among families in vulnerable situations and with children in their care.

As explained by the councilor, the applications will be attended to in order of arrival and transferred to the Department of Social Welfare, Childhood and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, which will be the one to decide on the awarding of the cards that it plans to grant to the citizens of Arrecife in a situation of vulnerability and with children in their care until completing the maximum amount granted, which reaches a total close to 129,000 euros co-financed with European funds.

In this sense, Maite Corujo clarifies that "the role of the city council in this initiative is to collaborate in the processing of applications, allocating to this task the team of Social Work professionals from the Department of Social Welfare and thus attending to the request that the Department conveyed to us."

The amount with which the cards will be endowed will range between 130 and 220 euros, which must be used by the beneficiary families for the acquisition of food and hygiene products. Its distribution is part of the execution of the Basic Material Assistance Program co-financed with European Funds.

Once the appointment has been granted, those interested in applying for the wallet card must appear at the offices of the Social Welfare Area of the Arrecife City Council (Rambla Medular, 46) with the documentation that has been requested to prove their socioeconomic situation. All applicants must be registered in the municipality of Arrecife, although it will not be necessary to issue a certificate.
