Arrecife is the second most visited place by tourists arriving in Lanzarote according to Promotur

Arrecife occupies "second place, with 31.2 percent, after the Fire Mountains and the Volcano Route, which leads the ranking of the most visited places on the island with 35.4 percent." The data, according to the Consistory, "are part of the latest study carried out by Promotur, Turismo Islas Canarias, of the Government of the Canary Islands", corresponding to 2019.

From the City Council they detail that, after Arrecife, the rest of the most visited places are in this order: "Jameos del Agua, with 27.4%; Mirador del Río, 25.3%; Teguise Market, 21.3%; Cueva de los Verdes, 20.9%; Cactus Garden, 18.1%; César Manrique Foundation, 15.9%; Farmer's Monument, 9.6%; La Graciosa, 8.7%; and in last place the Castle of San José with 4.5%."

“These data allow us to recognize that the capital also has tourist attributes that are appreciated and valued by visitors, and that we must take into account that we are the gateway to the island”, according to the mayor, Astrid Pérez.

Another fact to highlight from this study, according to the City Council, is that "8.88 out of ten tourists would return to Lanzarote", compared to 8.73 who would do so to another island in the archipelago, and "9.09 out of ten tourists would recommend coming to Lanzarote", compared to a regional average of 8.95. In addition, they add that Lanzarote also leads the score as a destination, "an 8.85 out of 10 compared to 8.70 on average in the Canary Islands."

From the City Council they also explain that, when tourists are asked how they rate their experience on the island, "98.2 percent say that "it lived up to, better or much better than expected", compared to 97.2 who respond the same for the case of the rest of the Canary Islands."

"Not being a tourist capital, it is very significant that Arrecife occupies that second place, which should make us work to continue improving the image of the capital", highlights the Councilor for Tourism, Hospitality and Commerce of Arrecife, Armando Santana.

From the Consistory they add that, analyzing the profile of each of the travelers who come to the islands, always tourists over 15, "mainly women come to Lanzarote, 52.79 percent, with an average age of 49.47 years, who are also salaried and with high and medium positions in a percentage of 53.4 percent, with businessmen and self-employed who visit us being 19.63 percent." And they also emphasize that in terms of purchasing power and annual household income in thousands of euros, "Lanzarote also exceeds the average for the Canary Islands, for Lanzarote it is 51.64, compared to 50.81 for the Canary Islands."

Finally, when asked what services they contract apart from accommodation, from the Arrecife City Council they point out that mostly it is "in 4-star hotels (39.4) and with all-inclusive (37.5), the restaurants and cafeterias section is the one that appears in first place, 62.7 in Lanzarote and 59.1 in the Canary Islands. Supermarket purchases are the second expense with 65.1 in Lanzarote and 52.1 in the Canary Islands, while in third place is the expense in transportation in taxis, transfers and VTC that in Lanzarote is 54.4 compared to 50 percent of tourists who come to the rest of the Canary Islands"
