In July of last year, Yonathan de León, directly responsible for the Local Police, announced that in 2024 the staff of the Local Police would be increased. And so, it has been reflected with the incorporation, since this month of November, twelve new agents.

Of the twelve new agents, nine have already completed their training at the Canary Islands Security Academy, and from now on they are already performing services in the different units that the Local Police Corps has. The other three agents have been assigned on a Service Commission.

The capital's mayor, accompanied by the commanders of the Local Police, presented this morning the eleven new agents who are joining to reinforce the security and surveillance of the capital of Lanzarote. This increase will also be strengthened during the next 2025, with the call for new positions, already contemplated in the draft of the Municipal Budgets for the next year, as Yonathan de León advanced today, in statements to the media present at this event. The mayor has assigned the direct direction of the Local Police, and the Budget Management Unit, which prepares the municipal budgets, is attached to the Mayor's Office.

Arrecife provides means, vehicles and technology to the Local Police

Yonathan de León has welcomed the great improvement that the Local Police Corps is having during this term. They have a security video camera room, the greatest modernization of the fleet of vehicles and motorcycles, the incorporation of technological devices that is turning Arrecife into a leading city, with the specialization of police units, including the USCI and the Minor and Family Unit, with the recent creation of the Tutor Agent.

Arrecife is the first municipality in the province of Las Palmas to offer families and the Educational Community of the tutor agents.

Yonathan de León has congratulated the agents for the service they provide to the citizens, and is pleased "with the police successes against crime, the identification of license plates or falsified passports, detected by the Documentoscopy Unit, the dismantling of smoking rooms, or the mediation of its agents for evictions of houses that generated a situation of citizen insecurity in some neighborhoods".

More increase in staff

The mayor congratulated the Councilor for Human Resources, Eli Merino, whose department has allowed the call for these positions to increase the staff of the Police, and the preparation of the future public employment offer, which provides for the municipal budgets for 2025.

Yonathan de León emphasized this morning that "the forecasts contemplate, at least creating 20 new agent positions, with options for 25. The offer will be subject to the indications of Public Function with the replacement rate that it marks for the Local Corporations in Spain".
