The Arrecife City Council continues to work this September in different key areas of the capital so that it "conveys an image of a well-cared for and decent city." In the vicinity of the port of Los Mármoles, where the container docks and mooring lines for cruise ships are located, there is an industrial area where different companies dedicated to logistics and distribution of goods operate.
Access to these industrial warehouses is mostly via a road that connects the Los Cruceristas promenade and the main road to the port of Los Mármoles. In recent times, a multitude of debris, rubble, and abandoned containers had accumulated in that area.
In coordination with the owners of the companies located in that place, work is being carried out this week to adapt the interior road and remove debris. The Department of Public Works of the City Council, under the direct direction of the mayor, has assigned several workers from Roads and Works, and municipal machinery, this week to adapt the road and improve the image of the area. Likewise, workers from the Department of Cleaning, led by councilor Jacobo Lemes, are working on cleaning the area. The operators have proceeded, in a synchronized manner, to remove the containers, and the municipal workers to remove the rubble and flatten the road to allow safer transit.
This type of intervention has also been carried out in other industrial areas of the city in recent months, such as Tenorio, where the current planning has implications that limit the paving of these roads in certain areas.
To this end, and in order to achieve road safety on these roads, in addition to improving the urban image of Arrecife, several teams, together with municipal machinery, have been assigned to repair and adapt these roads where companies that provide commercial and industrial activity to the entire population of Lanzarote are located.
