The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote approved this Tuesday the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies for the development of employment promotion projects, under a competitive concurrence regime. These aids, which will be submitted to the next Plenary Session of the Institution, will be aimed at non-profit entities and will promote initiatives that strengthen the employability of the population, especially the most vulnerable groups, and promote entrepreneurship as a way of creating opportunities.

The lines of action included in the bases cover, among others, labor insertion programs, training for young people and people at risk of exclusion, projects for the integration of people with disabilities, and support actions for local entrepreneurship.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, stressed that "employment is the most effective tool to guarantee equality and economic development, and with these bases, we make available to society resources that directly affect improving the quality of life of the population of Lanzarote and La Graciosa."

For her part, the Councilor for Training and Inclusive Employment, Ascensión Toledo, highlighted that the bases "include for the first time a stable framework that will allow social entities to compete with innovative and sustainable projects, aimed at employability, training, and labor integration of those who need it most. We are talking about supporting those who, with their daily effort, work to offer second chances and open paths towards personal and professional autonomy."

The regulatory bases establish that entities that develop projects in Lanzarote and La Graciosa linked to improving the employability of young people, promoting free training for people at risk of exclusion, favoring the labor integration of people with disabilities, and strengthening the qualification of professionals through guidance services and accreditation of acquired skills may benefit from these subsidies.

Likewise, a specific line of support for entrepreneurship is contemplated, which will offer tutoring, training, and comprehensive support to those who wish to start a business idea on the island.

The subsidies will be resolved through competitive concurrence and the calls will be published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas and on the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo. Among the requirements, the entities must be legally constituted, non-profit, and have their domicile in Lanzarote or La Graciosa.
